About Volunteers in Medicine:

Volunteers in Medicine is a free clinic for the working uninsured providing primary care and specialty care with the help of 250 Volunteers each month. We see roughly 1,000 patients and provide over 5,400 visits annually.

Our new patient appointments are 1 hour and primary care follow ups are 30 minutes. VIM does not bill or collect fees from patients or insurance companies. The clinic functions off grants and donations. This position entails seeing on average 7 patients per day in addition to scheduled administrative time to review labs and prescription refill requests. The focus is on quality time with the patient not maximizing reimbursement.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:

The position will be filled by a nurse practitioner licensed in the state of Florida as an APRN who is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with a dispensing license. Must have a proven track record of established clinical skills with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a APRN. This person must have the ability to work effectively with a team and have excellent communication skills. It is the policy of VIMJax that the APRN, along with the Medical Director, is responsible for the delivery of clinical services provided by a multi-disciplinary team approach, within a clinical setting through the use of both clinical and non-clinical volunteers. EMR proficiency as well as Outlook for email and calendar management is required.

The work schedule includes Tuesdays-Saturdays; Saturday clinic hours are mornings only from 9am-12pm. Occasionally there will be an event or meeting to attend on a scheduled day off. The APRN will work collaboratively with the Medical Director, CEO, COO, volunteers, and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Provides passionate primary care to 6-7 patients each day.

· Responsible for daily clinical operations of VIM including, but not limited to: personally conducting clinical patient appointments, addressing patient related issues, planning and directing the volunteer medical workforce.

· Provides support to in-clinic volunteers.

· Precepts Nurse Practitioner and undergraduate nursing students who are looking to further their skills and passion for this vulnerable population.

· Assesses, plans, and provides comprehensive patient care independently and/or in autonomous collaboration with other health professionals including prescribing and dispensing of medications; ordering and analysis of laboratory and diagnostic tests as appropriate.

· Promotes educational services and programs available to patients through collaborative partnerships.

· Collaborates with the Quality Assurance Committee chair regarding standards for medical care.

· Collaborates with the COO and Medical Director in the development and implementation of the strategic and operational plan including: medical practice guidelines and standards, ensuring Federal and State policies and regulations for patient care are met.

· Collaborates with the VIM lead pharmacist to maintain the dispensary: ordering, inventory and price controls, and ensuring all medications are dispensed appropriately.

Pay: $93,606.00 - $99,382.00 per year
